How to Find a Fence Builder

There are a few common sense steps you can take when selecting a Charlotte fence builder or contractor to build your new fence.

The first idea to keep in mind is that fence contractors that aren’t that concerned about timeliness before they get your money are not going to improve when they have it. If you have heard the song and dance about delays and other problems, remember that you always deserve a call or update if your contractor can’t meet you at a scheduled time.

I had one contractor who did a great job selling me on what I needed over the phone. I asked for him to come by to see yard then we could shake hands and get the deal done. Three phone calls, three appointments and three excuses later I finally bid this fence contractor a hearty farewell. I was confused, he went from enthusiastic and informative to evasive so quickly.

The second way to judge a good fence contractor is by their willingness to tell you something isn’t a good idea. If you are getting ready to do something that is not going to end up with a good finished product, a good contractor will tell you. Most fence builders get a lot of business from referrals. Every job is a brochure for the quality of work they do. Respect the opinion of a fencing company that tries to steer you in the right direction. Be wary of a fence contractor that seems to be willing to do anything for a buck.

The third way to find a good fence builder is to see if they have all of the proper equipment. My neighbor had a fence contractor come out and put in a fence. The fence contractor was out there for three days before the job was finished. My fence contractor was done in an afternoon. The difference was experience and equipment. An experienced contractor understands the value of good equipment and has most likely purchased equipment that allows him to not only do a better job but also to do the job more quickly.

The fence contractor that I chose called me before our initial meeting to confirm. 30 minutes later he pulled up in front of my house in a heavy duty pickup truck pulling a trailer that was about 20ft long. This was not a fly by night guy. He had everything he needed to build a fence with his crew.

I know how I am about my job. I buy good equipment to work with. My fence builder did the same.

I strictly do not buy based on price alone. But here is the kicker to everything I told you. This guy was the best price by a long shot. After he was finished I told him he was much cheaper. He said he knew that. He does so much business he gets a better deal on the fence he installs.

Better service. Better quality. Better price. Everything that you are looking for in a Charlotte fence builder.
